The lovely people at Influenster sent me this #FrostyVoxBox filled with awesome products to try out! How cool is that?! Very, if you ask me.

Anyway, I wanted to share with you what I thought of all of these things.

First off, I love Rimmel. I've talked about their Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal eyeliner before, but I've heard lots about the Just Let It Go Eye Make Up Remover from my favorite British beauty bloggers/vloggers, and I hadn't seen it in my local stores. Imagine my surprise when it turned up in the #FrostyVoxBox!

When it comes to food, my family always get super excited. The Fruit Vines Bites were an absolute hit with my boys (large and small). Imagine Twizzlers, but with more flavor. The McCormick Gourmet Thyme was a hit with my DH, who loves to cook. We put thyme in everything from soups and stews, to meats and potatoes! And the Candy Can Lane Green Tea is one I hid away for myself. That one was my little bedtime treat the other night, and although I'm not huge on peppermint tea, this one was nice. I love candy canes and green tea - why not mix them up!

The addition of a real live...what? You know, a full size brush - for FREE - made me giddy! I've needed a new brush to use when blow drying my hair, and this one did not disappoint. It made my hair soft, shiny, and smooth. I will be loving this brush for years to come I'm sure!

Finally, the last two items were the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense ADVANCED Serum and the NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum. I've used the serum for a couple days and nights and although that isn't enough time to really report on its lasting effects, I can say it feels nice on the skin, sinks in quickly, and didn't cause any major breakouts! All big pluses in my book. But the lipstick from NYC was my absolute favorite of the whole #FrostyVoxBox! The color was a perfect "My Lips But Better" color and the formula was creamy and moisturizing on the lips. Because of the creamy formula, it didn't last all that long, but I don't mind reapplication when the color is such a good match to my lips - no mirror required!

All in all, this was an amazing sample box from Influenster, and I would like to thank them for sending it out to me!

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think of them? I always like to hear your opinions!

*I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Empty Products #15

Let's get this out of the way...yes, I'm watching the CTFxC while I write this blog. I'm catching up! Is there anyone else out there that prefers to watch YouTube over regular television? I love watching Charles, Allie, Zoe and Marley. If you haven't watched them, you should!

Now for what you really came here for (just let me think you came here for my mini product reviews) are the things that I've recently finished up. Some have been the never ending product, and some have been short and sweet samples. All have been used up and are now being paraded across the Internets for your viewing pleasure.

Soap & Glory Butter Yourself
My holy grail body cream. I love everything about this stuff - the smell, the texture, it has exfoliating AHAs for those plucked chicken arm days (don't pretend I'm the only one), and it doesn't make me feel sticky (I hate that!). This is part of my bedtime skincare routine every night. Going on my Sephora list right now!

Onyx Professional 100% Pure Acetone Nail Polish Remover
Not really much to say about's nail polish remover. It was cheap. It gets the nail polish off super quick. I'm not loyal to any brand, but I do prefer pure acetone. I know, I's probably not all that great for your nails, but it works and it's cheap! Give me a break, alright.

Aveeno Active Naturals Nourish + Condition Leave-In Treatment
Ever since I started doing the reverse shampooing thing, I have had to use a leave-in conditioner just to get a comb through my hair. This one was in the right place at the right time. I used it all, but I doubt I'd buy it again. I like Aveeno, but this leave-in conditioner was just so-so. With all of the other ones on the market, I can't stop at the first one!

Bath and Body Works Island Nectar PocketBac
I cannot tell you how long it takes me to get through a bottle of hand sanitizer. I keep them in my bag for germ killing on the go, and I do use them often, but it is the gift that keeps giving! I even use it on my kids and husband...I like the Bath and Body Works formula and their scents are great, just like their candles. This one smelled like the islands. Yum!

Dove Go Fresh Restore Body Wash in Blue Fig & Orange Blossom Scent
Finally finished a bottle of body wash...It smells great, but just doesn't moisturize enough for me. It is a shame since there are some really good scents...Oh well, guess I will be picking up another Soap & Glory one next...darn! *puts that one the Sephora list*

Crest Glide Deep Clean Cool Mint Floss
Used some more floss, whoopie! I think I mentioned this in my last empties post...Good, not great. Does the job.

Ojon Rare Blend Oil Total Hair Therapy
Something else that took me freakin' forever to use up! This hair oil is much more suited to thicker more coarse hair, I think. It's nice, but just a bit too thick for my hair. I have quite a few more samples of hair oils to use though, so on to the next one.

Pangea Organics Turkish Rose & White Tea Eye Cream
First things first...this stuff is the stinkiest! I LOVED the idea of it, but when I went to use it...ugh! It smells awful. I got this in a Concious Box, so I was excited to try it out. A bit of a let down though. It didn't really do much for my eyes either, but its hard to tell with such a small sample. However, I will not be using this again due to the scent. Sorry Pangea Organics :(

Harvey Prince Hello Perfume
From the worst smelling product to the best smelling...I got this in a recent Birchbox. I had heard of it before, but never saw it in store to have a sniff. I was excited when it showed up in a sample box so I could give it a go! It smells amazing. It is fresh and subtly floral. I can see this becoming my signature Spring/Summer scent. I am obsessed with Stella by Stella McCartney, and I think this is the lighter sister fragrance to it. I could see these 2 fragrances becoming the only 2 in my collection...well maybe 2 of 3 if I ever get to test out the Fresh Sugar Lemon fragrance.

Did you find any new favorites in your latest empties? Have you tried this Pangea Organics eye cream? Am I the only one who thinks it stinks?!

Empty Products #14

More empty products! Why is it so satisfying to finish something and toss it into the recycling bin?! There is just something about it that I love. I also love sharing mini reviews with you guys when I have really used all the way to the end. Here is what I've finished up lately:

Aquafresh Extreme Clean Deep Action Toothpaste in Mint Zest
This is my go to toothpaste. I repurchase it over and over and will continue to do so until someone tells me it causes cancer or some other awful thing...I love the foaming action of it and it leaves my mouth feeling really clean. What more could you ask for from a toothpaste - clean mouth, sold!

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
I love Origins, and this cleanser of theirs has become my go to night time cleanser. My skin is pretty normal these days (after a round of Accutane last year), so I try my best not to irritate it by changing my skincare once I've found something that works. My skin likes this cleanser and it isn't too harsh. Yes, it foams, but it's not drying at all. I just feel clean after using it. Are you noticing a same theme here...

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil
When I finished my round of Accutane, I was told that I would need to use a prescription topical retinol cream every day for the rest of my life. This didn't sit well with me, so I started researching the active ingredient and natural alternatives. Retinol is an animal form of vitamin A and it highly irritates my skin making it very red, patchy, and not at all what I want after spending time and money to clear up my skin! A natural alternative is rose hip seed oil. I found that Pai's Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil had the highest concentration of the ingredient of any product on the market at the moment, so I decided to give it a try. I've heard great things about Pai. This is a dry facial oil that you put on dry skin. I put it on at night before bed. To me it smells like chocolate and raisins. I'm not a big fan of raisins, but I have grown to really love the herbal scent. I use 5 drops in the palm of my hand and smooth over my face and neck. The bottle lasted for 8 months, so at less than $35 it really is a steal! I am already onto my next bottle!

Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Heavenly Angel Mist
My lovely hubby gave this perfume to me a few years ago and I am just now finishing it off. It wasn't my favorite scent, but it wasn't horrible either. It has a powdery fresh smell to it. I used it mostly when I was going to be around the house, which is most of the time since I work at home. If you like the scent, I think it's a great deal, because even using it most days this stuff lasted me over a year! Plus, the bottle is plastic so it would be great for road trips.

Clinique All About Eyes
Finished another eye cream. This one is a very light gel cream hybrid. It sinks into the skin nicely and I think it would be perfect under makeup. Right now it is tied with Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream as my favorite daytime eye cream.

Crest Glide Deep Clean Cool Mint Floss
I have made a pact with myself. I WILL use up the toothpaste and dental floss that I have amassed in my linen closet from the dentist. You know, the stuff you get after every cleaning. The other day I went through my bathroom drawers and pulled out so many toothbrushes, boxes of tiny toothpaste, and things of dental floss that I could have supplied an entire football team for the next month! I organized them into a box and vowed to use all of the toothpaste and floss before I buy anymore. So far so good...apparently they don't put as much floss in those things from the dentist as they do when you buy them, so it's fast going. This one was nice...more of a tape than the stringy stuff of my childhood. It did the job and I didn't notice any real minty flavor.

Nude Progenius Treatment Oil
Once I ran out of my Pai oil, I needed something to bridge the gap before my new bottle came in. I found this in my stash. I've heard great things about Nude products, but this one didn't do it for me. I didn't like the smell and I just didn't feel like it nourished my skin as much as the Pai oil. I know they are 2 completely different products, but I just didn't feel like it was enough for my skin. It is a thinner oil than the Pai Rosehip oil too. So far, my 2 favorite dry facial oils are the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil and the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil. I think I will stick with them for now.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
Speaking of Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream...I finished up the Clinique one and had this sample in my stash, so I figured I could use it before I went out to repurchase another All About Eyes. After using this sample, I was reminded how much I love this eye cream! It has a bit of shimmer to it that just give the skin around your eyes a glow. It doesn't look glittery on. You are just left looking fresh and you've just had the most amazing facial! I think I will be repurchasing this guy instead of the Clinique...this time, at least.

What have you used up lately? Anything that I need to run out and purchase?! I'd love if you shared!

Parent Essentials: Summer to Fall Edition

Tis the season...for the season changing cold...ugh! With 2 boys 10 and under, you can best believe that germs run rampant around my house starting this time of year. What is it with boys and refusing to wash their hands?! I've said it a million times, and I stand by it...Boys are Gross!

Anywho, over the years, I've put together something of a Parent Survival Kit for these times. Some are common sense, and some are my own tricks of the trade, if you will...Let's get into it!
  1. Saline Nasal Spray: First off, when noses get snotty and/or stuffed up, saline spray is a great way to keep things...flowing if you will. I know it is supposed to keep the mucus lining hydrated or some highly educated thing, but for me it just aides in the whole nose blowing experience that kids just absolutely love...Not! The one I have right now is the Walgreens Saline Nasal Spray, but really any will do. It's just a salt water solution in a fine mist delivery bottle, but it's worth having on hand! A spritz in each nostril and a tissue...or 12, and you're good for at least another...half hour or so...
  2. Pain Reliever/Fever Reducer: Since I had my first son 10 years ago...geez, where has the time gone!...our Pediatricians have advocated the Tylenol/Motrin dosing every 4 hours, as needed. For my kids, Tylenol does little to nothing when they have a full on fever, so using it alone isn't in my best interest. But I also don't want to just dose them up with Motrin all of the time. So we do a shot of Tylenol (here I have a store brand: Healthy Accents Children's Pain Relief Acetaminophen) and 4 hours later, a shot of Motrin (again, we have a store brand: Healthy Accents Children's Ibuprofen). I'm perfectly happy to use the store brands from stores that I trust, but that really is up to you. I find that I am giving my kids far less medicine when we use this method, and that is always a good thing!
  3. Thermometer: A thermometer is a MUST have for parents, I don't care how old your kids are. Shoot, I even use an ear thermometer like this * Braun ThermoScan 5 Ear Thermometer for my husband and myself! I find it to be super quick and easy and the kids don't get all squirmy. I used to have the Braun Thermoscan Ear Thermometer with ExacTemp Technology, but the ThermoScan 5 is definitely faster! It also has a power button so you can turn it off - allowing the battery to last longer. Braun is the best brand thermometer, in my opinion, and I will continue to repurchase them for my own piece of mind.
  4. Decongestant for the Under 6 Crowd: When you read the directions on all of the decongestants on the market, they all say not to use for kids under 6. Well, what are we supposed to do to help our little ones?! Our Pedicatrician recommends Claritin for kids when my 4 year old is snotty and snuffly. We have the Up & Up Children's Loratadine Syrup (ie. Children's Claritin) version right now. It says you can use it on kids 2+. I would have never thought to use this for a cold had my doctor not recommended it, so I wanted to share with all of the other parents out there.
  5. A Good Distraction: Who doesn't need a distraction when they aren't feeling their best? Adults and kids alike! When the kids are snotty and have scratchy throats, popsicles or freezie pops are just what the doctor ordered...right now we have these Mott's and SunnyD Freezer Pops. The Mott's ones are made using fruit juice and both have a bit less sugar than the standard freezie pops. I got these from my local Walmart. The kids love them, and they don't realize that their sweet treat is actually helping soothe their throats. It's a twofer folks! As a parent, you learn to have lots of these little tricks up your sleeve.
As an honorable mention, I wanted to point out that Baby VapoRub is good to have on hand. I use it at bedtime more as a relaxation technique than anything else, but I find that it really does help my kids sleep better when they are stuffy.

Although none of these things are cures for the sickies, they do lessen the blow, and who doesn't want to do that when their kids are sick?!
What is in your must have kit when your kids are sick? I'd love to know!

*This product was sent to me in consideration for a review free of cost to me. My opinions are always my own and are genuine!

Summer Favorites

If Labor Day is the unofficial end of Summer, then we have unofficially started the Fall with some of the hottest weather of the year here in my little piece of the world! I don't know about you guys, but I'm ready for snowboard season...bring on the SNOW!

This Summer I spent a lot of time out in the sun playing in the water with the kiddos. I think you will be able to tell by this group of favorites from the last 3 months.

  1. Sunscreen: We all know that we should be covering up with sunscreen everyday. Not only does it defend against scary things like skin cancer, but it also keeps our skin looking younger longer. And at 33, I need all the help I can get in that department! This year I started seeing sunscreen oils and was intrigued. I can't stand the time and effort it takes to put on lotion and my skin is always left feeling sticky and just plain gross. On top of that, my skin has started to react to sunscreen lotions by burning and itching on top of getting super dry after I wash it off at night. The sunscreen oil sounded like it might offer a different experience. I grabbed a bottle of the Supergoop! Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil with Meadowfoam Broad Spectrum SPF 50. It was AMAZING! I put it on in the morning it sunk straight in leaving my skin feeling nourished and not tacky. It had a very subtle scent that I barely noticed. And after a day with one re-application, I didn't feel like I had been rolling in a tar pit. I did not burn one little bit all Summer with this on! This sunscreen has quickly become my holy grail.
  2. Pedicure: During the Summer, when our toes are on display with cute sandals and flip flops - or like me, when you go barefoot - a good pedicure is a must! I am obsessed with corals, and not even just for Summer. It looks great with a tan and is bright and cheery for sunny days. I had one polish on my toes ALL Summer and it was Trout Pout by Butter London. It is the perfect coral peachy pink for my skin tone. Plus, it matched my bathing suit!
  3. Bathing Suit: Speaking of bathing suits...a girl needs THE perfect bathing suit when the Summer months roll around. There is no easy way to find said perfect suit, and it can take hours, if not days to do! Because I spent a lot of time with family and the general public - at beaches and such - I wasn't about to display my (never beach ready) body for all to see. So, I decided on a super cute one-piece from Charlotte Russe. It is a flattering cut, but doesn't make me look like a frumpy 30-something mother of 2 (yes, I am, but I don't wanna look like it!). Plus, it's that amazing coral peachy pink color that I'm mad for at the moment! And at under $20, it was an absolute steal! You can't get this exact one on their site anymore, but I'm sure you can find something similar next Summer season if you keep your eyes peeled.

  4. Leave-In Conditioner: During the warmer months, my hair tends to need some help when it comes to tangles. As soon as it gets wet, it knots right up. So I grab some leave-in conditioner and let it do its thing before I ever put a pick or my tangle teezer to my head! This Summer I picked up the Aveeno Active Naturals Nourish + Condition Leave-In Treatment and it worked pretty well. It didn't have a smell and it didn't seem to weigh my hair down or make it greasy. You can pick it up from just about any drugstore and it's super cheap at $5.99. I wouldn't say it's life changing, but it got the job done.
  5. Ice Cream: Finally, it wouldn't be Summer without ice cream! When we go on vacation, ice cream is a meal in itself. There is Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Ice Cream! I swear I've put on 10 pounds from it! And although, when we are at the beach, we like to grab it from our favorite frozen custard place (Kill Devil's), when we are at home we are just as crazy for frozen treats. My lovely hubby made the mistake of bringing these *Klondike Heath Ice Cream Bars home once and we were all hooked! I love Heath Bars and vanilla ice cream, so this was a natural choice. When I got a coupon from Influenster to grab a box for FREE, I was all over that! Free ice cream?! Who would turn that down?! Who, I ask?! Anyway, these quickly became my family's favorite frozen at-home treat. If you like ice cream and chocolate, check 'em out! We got ours from our local Target.
Although I am ready for the cooler months, we had a great Summer, and with my favorites around it couldn't have been better! Here's to the Summer of 2014!

What can you not live without during the heat of the Summer?

July Empties: Finished an Eyeliner

Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense - 03 Intense Chocolate
This is the first time I have ever finished an eyeliner! I have really gotten into just wearing a subtle cat eye with a Summery lip and this is THE.BEST.EYELINER! It is intense (as the name would suggest) and once it sets it doesn't budge. The twist up liner has quickly become my favorite because it's so easy, no tools required. Plus, at $16.00, it's not super expensive. I will be checking out the Intense Midnight and Intense Amethyst in the VERY near future!

M.A.C Zoom Lash
I held onto this sample as long as I could, but I did purchase the full size - so I think it's fair to say I liked it!

Crystal Body Deodorant Towelette
I am on the hunt for a good non-toxic natural deodorant that works. I got this sample recently and gave it a go. I thought it was going to be a strange experience, but the soft cloth was unscented, not overly damp, and non-sticky. I really liked it. I am currently trying the Lavanila Healthy Deodorant, so we shall see how that goes.

Origins Make A Difference Rejuvenating Cleansing Milk
If you've watched my Warm Weather Morning Skincare Routine, you will have seen this in action. I love this cleanser for the Summer months. It is light but still nourishing, and never leaves me feeling dry and stripped. I just massage into dry skin and wipe off with a warm damp wash cloth. It last ages too, so the $23.50 price tag is totally worth it. I've already got a new one on the go!

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster
Another product demonstrated in my Warm Weather Morning Skincare Routine. This smells amazing! Like oranges - which is perfect for the Summer time. It is super refreshing on the skin in the morning and I really do notice when I don't use it. Again, it lasts for a long time, so the price really is worth it. I am on my second bottle of it and I plan to repurchase in the future.

Soap & Glory Foam Call Dual-Use Shower & Bath Body Wash
I won't bang on about this stuff, but I love it and I will repurchase, but next time I'm going for the original scent because I loves it!

Skintimate SkinTherapy Moisturizing Shave Gel for Sensitive Skin
This stuff has probably been in every single empties post, so I probably don't need to explain. It's a shave gel. It's for sensitive skin. One of my faves. Check it out!

Garnier Fructis Fortifying Conditioner for Color Treated Hair
Shampoo and Conditioner are not generally things I put a whole lot of thought into. If it's on sale or if I have a coupon I will buy it. I have been this way for years...until now. I have been doing the reverse shampoo thing lately, which is where you condition your hair first and then shampoo. I have been doing this for about 3 months and I am really happy with the results. I still only shampoo at most every other day and it works for me. Because of this new trend, I have been much more conscious of what I use on my hair. I am planning to try some more natural products moving forward, and even some cleansing conditioners. Any recommendations?!

Harney & Sons Royal Wedding Tea
Yet another item you have seen in most empties posts, therefore I won't go into detail about. If you like tea, or even if you don't - go try Harney & Sons. It's the best. True story. What are you waiting for! Go get some!

As a bonus, I also wanted to mention that I finished off a Fresh Sugar Lemon Soap. I didn't have the packaging to show you because I got it months ago for my Birthday from my sister. This is THE holy grail of bath soap! It smells so good I could eat it. It feels amazing on the skin. And it is THE biggest bar of soap I have ever used. It lasted forever, even with my hubby and 2 kids using it daily. I know $13.00 is kinda steep for a bar of soap, but this is everything I want in a soap. If I could only have one type of soap for the rest of my life, this would be it! I would carry it around with me just to sniff all day. This is the scent I want piped into my household ventilation system all the time. Can you tell I'm in love? I digress, but I do highly recommend this soap if you like the smell of lemons. *daydreams about more Fresh Sugar Lemon Soap*

Well, now that I am very tempted to place a huge order with Fresh consisting only of Lemon Soap, I will leave you to it. Don't forget to leave me your natural and/or cleansing conditioner recommendations. Thanks you lovely people!

What's on My Face: Everyday Basics

On a day-to-day basis, I don't wear all that much makeup - if any at all, but I thought I'd share with you the things that I've been putting on my face the most lately. Let's get into it!

I like to start with my eyes since I'm terrible at applying eye liner and it takes me frackin' forever! I'm obsessed with navy blue at the moment, but I didn't want to commit to a more expensive one until I knew it would work with my skin tone and eye color - hence the uber cheap Cover Girl Perfect Point Plus Eye Pencil in 220 Midnight Blue. This one is a twist up style with a little smudgy nib at the other end. I really like the twist up style eye liners, but this one just doesn't have the lasting power more expensive ones do. It does go on super easy, but about halfway through the day it transfers to my upper eye lid for that really sexy double line look *NOT*.

Because I am strange and like to use the things I spend money on - I know *gasp* right - I refuse to buy a new liner until the one I have is gone. Therefore, I need something to make this one stick a bit better. Enter the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden (this is just a sample sachet that I got with a Sephora order). I use my Bare Escentuals Precision Concealer brush to put this just along my lash line where I apply the eye liner. I've found that it does help it stay where I put it better, but I do still end up with the double line by the end of the day:( I guess it's a good thing the eye liner is so soft - I will use it up faster!

Next, I go in with my Shu Uemura Eye Lash Curlers and give my lashes a good curl. Then I follow up with the M.A.C. Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara. This is my favorite mascara at the moment. It is a bit of a wetter formula, so application can be a bit tricky, but the result is super black super dramatic lashes - which I love!

To finish up the eyes, I dab a bit of the Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter into the inner corners and use my finger to blend a tiny bit.
Lastly, I slick on a healthy coat of the Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in 700 Cantaloupe Cream. Et Voila! There you have my go to face of the moment.

Do you have items that are your basic essentials? What can you not give up in your routine? Clearly, I forego the face base for a stronger eye. BTW, what is the best navy eye liner?!

Family Values: Vacation with Kids Under 10

It's Summer time and most of us are trying to get our vacations in before the good weather is gone. I am no exception to this rule. I do, however, have some major requirements to fulfill for any vacation I plan due to the fact that I have 2 kids under the age of 10...which begs the question - is it really a vacation [for me and the mister]? I'll leave that to you...

Because I am always travelling with 2 under 10, I have come up with a few suggestions for keeping things from getting mutinous 30 minutes into the trip.

Have a Plan
"Who wants to have a plan when they are on vacation?" - you may ask. Parents of small children! This is probably the simplest concept of them all, but also the easiest to overlook. No one expects you to have your itinerary written out to the last minute before you fall out at night, but having a rough idea of what you are doing each day and in what order never hurt anyone. I promise you, sitting down the night before to come up with a 'plan of attack' will make the day to come a lot more enjoyable. When you already know what you are doing and your kids know what to expect, there is more time to actually participate in your activities. My boys are 4 and 9, or other words, the decade of questioning. They must ask what we are doing or where we are going or what day it is or what time it is...*sigh* a BILLION times a day. And that is on a regular day - not even vacation! I just find it takes that down a notch to tell them exactly what we are doing and in what order. Yes, we still get questions, but not to the same degree...let's say a HUNDRED times a day, and I'm ok with that.

Pack Snacks
What do kids always want when they are bored? Food! Mine do at least...It is one of the few things they can generally control themselves when we are at home, and when they are out of their element the desire to have the snacks they are used to is strong. Aside from my want to save money, having a cooler full of snacks and drinks that your kids are used to can make them feel comfortable in a new environment. Also, you know these things *ahem* agree with them - and NO ONE wants a kid who's eaten something that doesn't agree with them while on vacation - I promise you! Plus, if your kids are like mine, they will get a kick out of the whole picnic style of eating while traveling.

Book Entertainment
Let's be honest, a vacation with kids is not the vacation we hope for as adults. I actually find it less of a vacation than just being home for a week. When you are home, they have all of their things and everything is set up in a way that you have to do little to keep them entertained. But when you are in a new place, you have to be 'ON' all the time and Lord forbid you don't have something exciting planned each day - no to mention the actual travel time. Enter the portable DVD player or tablet device. I've had a portable DVD player in my vehicle since my oldest was a baby. No, I don't think kids should be in front of a TV all of the time, but once you've exhausted all of the Punch Buggy, License Plate, and Car Color games that you have in your arsenal - a movie can be a welcome break for the adults in the car. Most of the time one or both of my boys end up falling asleep during this time anyway - which is a bonus if you ask me! My oldest will sometimes play a game on the iPad, and this keeps his appetite sated so when we are ready to do family things, he isn't begging to play video games. Although a vacation is full exciting things to do and see, kids sometimes just want something they are used to. It can serve as downtime in between other plans and even give us adults a little time to take a nap - after all, it's our vacation too!

These suggestions may seem simple and even quite obvious, but until you've prepared for and actually embarked on a trip with small know nothing of the limits to which your brain will go to shut out even the most mundane of items from being added to your "To Pack" list! I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten to bring a bra because I've been so intent on not forgetting anything for the kids...

I hope these give you some ideas for your next family trip. What are your go to tips for traveling with the kids?

Product Spotlight: Supergoop! Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil Broad Spectrum SPF 50

Ever since I finished my cycle of Accutane (Claravis), my skin has been uber sensitive. Anyone that has ever gone through this treatment will know what I'm talking about! But for those of you who haven't, and simply have sensistive skin...this pertains to you too!

It is the summer and I am out in the sun more frequently than usual. This calls for extra SPF! This is a problem with my sensitive skin...I find that anything over an SPF of 15 burns and irritates my skin. I've tried lotions and sprays of all kinds, but all to the same end - angry skin! I started seeing advertisements and posts about Sunscreen Oils. These got me interested. I use a lot of skincare oils for my face and body and my skin LOVES them! I figured a sunscreen oil might be just as well recieved, so I took off to my local Sephora.

There were 2 I was interested in after reading about them: Clarins Sunscreen Care Oil Spray Broad Spectrum SPF 30 and the SUPERGOOP! Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil Broad Spectrum SPF 50. I initially went in looking for the Clarins version, but didn't see it in store and couldn't find it in stock online. So, I set my sights on the SUPERGOOP! spray. I found this on the Sephora website and it was cheaper than the Clarins one with a higher SPF - bonus!

I used this for 10 days while I was on vacation last week and it performed beautifully without irritating my skin! It went on nicely and sunk in right away. I wasn't left with that icky suntan lotion stickiness on my body either. I HATE that! I applied it once a day and never burned. I do have a naturally pigmented skin, so I tend to tan very easily with very little sun, but as I've aged I have burned more. This sunscreen oil kept the burn away and left me with nicely colored skin that was perfectly conditioned. There is a very very subtle scent, but nothing you'd notice after applying, so even my husband liked it!

All in all, I will definetly be repurchasing this and I'd recommend it to anyone with a sensitive skin that leans toward the dry side.

Have you tried a sunscreen oil? What are your thoughts?

June Empties: Just the Basics

What better way to jump back into the blog than with a good ol' Empties Post! I have no excuses...sometimes life gets in the way, but I love this blog and I work hard to create the content that you find here. Back to your regularly scheduled blog posts!

Dove Hair Therapy Refresh+Care Volume Dry Shampoo
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this dry shampoo before. I find it to be my favorite of all the brands I've tried - which truthfully, isn't saying much - but we won't focus on that. I have fine hair, but a lot of it, and this stuff does the trick for my every 3 day shampooing routine. It does give a bit of white tint to my hair, but I just brush it through and it's perfect. If you just want a bit of grit and texture to your locks, give this a go, it's great for that too!

Skintimate Skin Therapy Moisturizing Shave Gel for Sensitive Skin
This is my go to shaving product. It does the job and leaves my legs smooth and moisturized. It's also nice and inexpensive.

Harney & Sons White Vanilla Grapefruit Tea
Shocker, I have some Harney & Sons tea in an empty post! At least this time it is something other than my beloved Royal Wedding Tea. I love citrus and vanilla, so a white tea with both was a no brainer. I expected this to have more of that astringent citrusy flavor like most teas flavored with citrus, but I was happily surprised! It is extremely smooth. The vanilla takes the edge off what you'd expect from grapefruit and just makes it bright and fresh. As always, I add a bit of agave and almond milk and I'm a happy girl. I will be repurchasing this!

Secret Outlast Invisible Solid in Sport Fresh
Here is another highly repurcahsed item. This is my favorite brand and variation of deodorant. I am not particular to any one scent, but this one smells like you have been snuggling with a sexy man...Who doesn't want that!?

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream
Again, it wouldn't be an empties post without something from Soap & Glory. Today there are 2! I have grown to absolutely LOVE this brand and every product I try from them. This thick and creamy cream smells like a limey Summer drink and feels amazing on the skin. Even the driest of skins will love this stuff.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Body Moisturizer
With the signature Soap & Glory scent, this body butter is not only moisturizing, but also so relaxing. I use it mainly at night after my shower or bath, and my senses have been trained to know it is time to relax when I put this on. I will continue to go back to this as my whole body moisturizer.

Maybelline The Falsies Flared Volum' Express Waterproof in Very Black
Only a few things I can say about this mascara - I LOVE the drama and length the formula and brush gives, but HATE that it dries up and flakes like no ones business! Maybelline mascaras are some of the better drugstore versions in my opinion, but I just can't do the panda eyes and this stuff gives some extreme drop down about halfway through the day. I liked the instant results, but this will not be a repurchase for me.

Origins Starting Over Age-Erasing Eye Cream with Mimosa
I used this eye cream as my night time eye cream. It is a bit on the thick side, so I'm not sure how it would do under eye makeup, but it is perfect for slathering on before bed. I did notice that if you get it too close to your eye, you wake up with puffy eyes in the morning. I don't have any visible fine lines at this stage of my life, but I will consider repurchasing this again. I just happen to be an eye cream whore - there are just so many out there to try!

Nivea A Kiss of Milk & Honey Soothing Lip Care
I've already talked about this lip balm in the past. It's super cheap and great stuff! I will continue to repurchase this with the occasional Fresh lip treatment as a treat. I use this mainly at bedtime because it is nice and creamy, but that doesn't mean it can't be used all the time.

ChapStick Lip Shield 365 with SPF 50+
My sister gave this to me a few years ago when I was going on a snowboarding trip. You need something with good SPF when riding up and down a mountain in snow, wind, and ice conditions. I thought it tackled all of that really well at the time, but when I used it recently it made my lips burn. I have since gone through a cycle of Accutane and believe that gave me a sensitivity to certain ingredients of SPF products. Because of this, I won't be repurchasing, but that's not because I don't think it's a good product. If you don't have a sensitivity to the ingredients, this is one of the highest SPF lip balms I've seen at this price.

June was a month of good ol' basic items for me, and most are items I will continue to repurchase. When I find a brand or product that I love, I am very loyal - I am still on the hunt for some holy grail items though. With so many choices out there, it would be a shame not to branch out...right?!

What products did you use up this month? Do you find that there are certain products that you go through faster than others? If so, what are they? Mine is definitely body butters!

Sephora Mini Haul

I recently placed an order at It was only for 2 items, so I wasn't planning on doing a haul. Then I realized how much I love these 2 products and thought I'd share!

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
This is my nighttime cleanser of choice. I have already gone through 2 of these. It keeps my skin super clean without being dry and tight. At the end of the day I prefer to use a foaming cleanser. I just feel like it gives better results. I cannot live without this stuff! It's inexpensive based on the time that it lasts (I generally get 5-6 months out of it.), but it's great quality. It has a really nice clean herbal scent and a tiny bit goes a long long way! You get some serious froth from this cleanser - hence the name. If you are in the market for a cleanser, and you like foaming formulas, give this one a try. I think it does fine even for sensitive skin.

Soap & Glory Foam Call Super Moisture-Suds
What can I say, I love this brand. I have not tried anything of theirs that I didn't like. I love their body wash formula. It is very hydrating and a little goes a long way. Just a few pumps gives you enough bubbles to clean your entire bod! I've tried the Clean on Me and Sugar Crush versions as well and love them, but I hadn't tried this one and wanted to. My skin never feels tight and itchy when I use these body washes. I am sure they would be fine for sensitive/dry skin unless you are irritated by fragrance. These are just lovely products. I can't sing their praises enough! If you are tired of using drug store body washes that claim to be hydrating, but just don't do the job - go pick one of these up! I know they are just a bit more pricey than their drugstore counterparts, but they last a long time and, trust me, your skin will thank you.

What products can you not live without?

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day is quickly approaching, and we all want to give the perfect gift. You don't want to mince words when showing your appreciation for your Mom, so finding that perfect gift can be hard! Trust me, I know. That's why I decided I'd put together this quick little guide. I'm sure you can't go wrong with one of these!

Here are my favorite gift ideas for Mom:

Custom Notebook
It may come as no surprise to those of you who have been reading my blog for any amount of time, that I will suggest my favorite custom notebooks from May Designs. You can customize these so many ways with so many purposes in mind that they are perfect for any Mom! They even do note cards for the Mom that likes to send out snail mail. Plus with prices under $30, these items are perfect if you are on a budget.

Kitchen Decor
I love to cook, and I love to have my kids help me in the kitchen. I also like to have cute things to put in my kitchen. I know there are other Mothers out there just like me. The perfect place to find these cute kitchen items is Etsy! Two of my favorite shops include Lulu & Luca and Oh, Little Rabbit. As a matter of fact, my Mom will be getting the super cute tea towels you see above. How sweet are they?! She also does really nice make up bags that I'd love to have for myself.

All women like least all of the women I know. And what Mom wouldn't like to get a really nice lovely scented candle? We all know my love for Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles is real, and they are always on sale; but a few other brands that make absolutely beautiful gifts are NEST Fragrances and Diptyque. I'd be over the moon with any of the uber sophisticated (and, let's be honest, uber expensive) scents that are offered by Diptyque. Plus, you can reuse the jar once you've burned the candle down and never have to lose the memory of the gift.

Tea is always a good idea for Moms. It suggests relaxation, which all Mothers me! There is nothing more calming than sitting down with some of your favorite hot tea and enjoying some quiet time, whether with a book or just a really awesome view. My absolute favorite tea brand is Harney & Sons because they have the biggest selection and their customer service is amazing! I have yet to try a tea from them that I didn't like. But with such a large selection of teas, you are sure to find something your Mom will like. If you're looking to give her the gift of relaxation this Mother's Day, and you can't afford a day at the spa, try this MUCH more affordable option!

Bath & Beauty Products
Another gift to pamper Mom is bath and beauty products, but not just any bath and beauty products, how about some really Lush (pun intended) ones...ahhh, see what I did there! Lush does amazing Mother's Day themed bath products that would be perfect for an at home spa type experience. They even do already packaged and wrapped sets, so all you have to do is hit the store and pick one up. While you're there...grab me one!

No matter what you decide, Mother's will always be happy you put in the time and effort for her. But why not make it something she may really really like! Take it from the mother of 2 (rowdy and sometimes annoying boys under the age of 10), any of these would do the trick.

Have you done your Mother's Day shopping? What are you giving your Mom on her special day?

April Empties: Lots of Body Products

Yes, it is that time again - time for another monthly empties. This is where I share mini reviews of the products that I've used up during the month. And this month there are quite a few, so let's get crackin'!

Dove go fresh Restore Body Wash in Blue Fig & Orange Blossom
I have used this Dove body wash for quite a while now, and I had really liked it. That was until I tried the Soap & Glory one. I still really love the scents they have in this range, but I just find it really drying when compared to the Soap & Glory one. This one is cheap and does the job, but if you have dry skin, I wouldn't recommend it!

Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Sicilian Lemon
I've mentioned this hand soap before, so I won't blabber on about it. But it smells amazing, cleans well, and doesn't dry out my skin. Plus Bath & Body Works always has these on offer.

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
I've decided that this is my holy grail night time face wash. I started using it a while ago after watching one of Jen's (from Organized Jen) skincare routine videos. I liked that it claimed to clean skin without drying, but it was a full on cleanser. I prefer to use cleansing balms and milks for the morning, but at the end of the day I feel like I need something a bit more full on. I have used this one for about a year now, and one tube lasts me about 5 months. I will continue to repurchase this until my skincare needs change I think.

The Body Shop Sweet Lemon Body Butter
So I really like The Body Shop Body Butters. The formula is great, and most of the scents are really nice, but this one...this one was awful. I LOVE lemon, and anyone that has been reading the blog for a while will know this, but this did NOT smell like lemon! It had this awful plastic-y medicinal scent. I could not wait to use this up so I could move on to my new favorites, the Soap & Glory Body Butters. I don't dislike the formula of The Body Shop Body Butter, but I much prefer the Soap & Glory ones which I will continue to repurchase over this one.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Fresh & Foamy Body Wash
Again, you've heard me profess my love for the Soap & Glory brand, so I won't go on and on. But like I mentioned above, I had used the Dove body wash for a really long time and had really liked it. When I got this one for Christmas, I went straight in. My skin never felt tight or itchy, and the scent was so yummy (like vanilla and lime). I use a textured body cloth with my body wash, and I noticed that even it was super silky when using this body wash. It lasted me for just about 5 months, and when I went back to the Dove body wash, my skin instantly rebelled! I was itchy and dry and even my textured cleansing cloth seemed more stiff and scratchy. I used it for about a week to see if my skin would adjust, but no luck. I got on Sephora's website and promptly ordered another Soap & Glory Body Wash (this time the Foam Call version - I will report on that later).

In short, if you have dry or sensitive skin, I highly recommend the Soap & Glory Body Wash!

Dove Refresh+Care Volume Dry Shampoo
This is my favorite dry shampoo, and I will continue to repurchase it. Even the Mr. likes it, and his hair is super oily! I've mentioned this in a Feature Friday post here if you'd like to read more about it.

Harney & Sons Royal Wedding Tea
My all time favorite tea. I will continue to repurchase it. This is true love guys. If you haven't read any of my other posts, I suggest you do if you'd like more information on this tea. I think I've mentioned it or Harney & Sons in just about all of them! If you like tea, I beg you to try this!

StriVectin-TL 360° Tightening Eye Serum
I ran out of my daytime eye cream and found this in my stash, so I decided to use it until I could get out to repurchase my regular one. This one has many claims, but the sample size is just not enough to get a real idea of how this stuff works. I didn't dislike it. It was light, smoothed on nicely, and dried quickly. I think it works fine for a daytime eye cream because it worked fine under makeup. The StriVectin brand is a bit pricey though. I just can't see spending that kind of money for something I don't need quite yet. Maybe as I age (gracefully I hope) my opinion will change. I'd say, if you had more need for a tightening eye treatment, this would be great.

Stella by Stella McCartney Purse Spray
Sadly, I used up the last drop of my signature scent. I love this perfume and will continue to repurchase it. There is something about it that makes me feel sexy and confident when I wear it. I have been rationing the last little bit for some time, but now it's gone and I think I may have shed a tear...

Dove go fresh Rebalance Beauty Bar in Plum and Sakura Blossom
Unlike the body wash, I don't find this soap drying at all. I do not use this all over my body (I use body wash for that). Dove has some really nice scents in this range. I think this one is my favorite though.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment
My favorite lip balm, but due to its price, I only buy it as a treat from time to time. This one I got in my stocking for Christmas. It's lasted me almost 5 months because I only use it at night as part of my nighttime skincare routine. I won't run right out and grab this again, but I will repurchase it!

Amlactin Moisturizing Body Lotion
I talked about using a body lotion/butter with AHAs in a few weeks ago. I really like the Soap & Glory Butter Yourself, but I used it all up and went through my stash to see if I had anything else that contained AHAs. I found this one, and thought I'd check it out. It's not a nice as Butter Yourself, but it's more of a lotion and not a body butter, and it doesn't have a nice smell, but I do think it would do the job you'd expect of a lotion/cream with AHAs in. I will be sticking with the Soap & Glory one though.

What can I say, Soap & Glory has my heart right now!

That's what I've used up in April and what I thought. What did you use up during April? Would you repurchase it?

Warm Weather Morning Skincare Routine

The temperature has been in the high 70s and low 80s where I live over the last week. Time to change over to the warm weather products! I thought I'd take a minute to share my updated morning skincare routine.

Origins Make A Difference Rejuvenating Cleansing Milk
I start by squeezing out a blob of this lightweight cleansing milk onto my fingers. I massage into dry skin and then use a warm damp wash cloth to wipe off. This leaves no residue on the skin, but my face feels super fresh and not stripped at all. My skin started breaking out after using The Body Shop Cleansing Butter, but after using this for a few days, it cleared up. So, I 'm sad to say that I think my skin may not like that cleansing butter:( But I'm going to hold onto it and see if it may work better for me this coming Winter.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster
This has been the second step in my morning routine for sometime now. It is a boost of Vitamin C for my skin and I really feel like it helps brighten and tighten. It is a gel that sinks in very quickly and leaves no stickiness. For now, I am really enjoying using this as my morning serum step!

Clinique All About Eyes
While the Truth Serum sinks into my skin, I dab some of this eye cream under my eyes and around my brow bone. It is also a more gel formula than cream, so it is very cooling on the eyes. It glides on with a really silky feel, so it doesn't drag the delicate skin under your eyes. I really like this! It keeps my dark circles at bay and also de-puffs. It doesn't create any issues with makeup and is very light weight - that is why I use this as my daytime eye cream.

Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer
Now that my serum has dried, I go in with my daytime moisturizer. Right now I am using this one by Aveeno for sensitive skin. It has SPF 15 in which is great. I don't tend to use any other SPF on a regular basis, but if I were going to be in the sun a lot, I would add another SPF on top. I just use one pump and rub into my skin. This works great under makeup and doesn't make anything slide around on top.

DermStore Lip Quench
I'm not too picky when it comes to my morning lip balm. I just like it to be buttery and very moisturizing, but not sticky. This one was sent as a free sample with my last DermStore order. To me it has a bit of a berry or fruity scent, and it gives the lips a nice sheen without being shiney. This finishes off my morning skincare routine. If I were going to wear makeup, I'd put that on now, but most days I don't do anything else. By putting on lip balm at this stage, even if I were going to wear makeup that day, my lips would be nice and moisturized by the time I went to add any lip products. I never go without lip balm because my lips tend to be super dry, and that is never a good look!

See my routine in action by watching the accompanying video!

How does your morning skincare routine change as the weather gets warmer?

Feature Friday: Harney & Sons White Vanilla Grapefruit Tea

My favorite this week has been the Harney & Sons White Vanilla Grapefruit Tea. I placed an order last week because I was almost out of my Royal Wedding tea and, as I usually do, I picked up a few new varieties to give a go.

This time around I picked up Tower of London and this one. Although I don't drink a lot of black tea, my husband does and he loves the Tower of London. I haven't tried it yet, but it smells amazing! I have, however, fallen in love with the White Vanilla Grapefruit.

I like citrus and I love vanilla, so this sounded like a great combination for a Spring tea. I was expecting a super citrusy flavor, but was happily surprised when I took my first sip. It was extremely smooth, as all of the Harney & Sons teas that I've tried have been. But the most surprising thing was how well the vanilla mellowed out the grapefruit. It is bright and fresh without being too much. My husband who doesn't care for grapefruit even liked this one!

Just like the Royal Wedding, I take this with some agave and a splash of unsweetened almond milk, and it is just perfect. I'm certainly not over my first love, but I think this has quickly become my Springtime tea of choice!

Have you tried any new teas lately? Let me know if you give this one a try!

Random Haul: Target, Zoya and H&M

Over the last few weeks I've done a little shopping. Some things I had run out of and just needed to replace, and some things I have been eyeing up and finally jumped on...other things were completely unnecessary, but were a steal and I had to have! I didn't get all of these things in one go, but over a few weeks time I made a few trips to my local Target, placed an order at and, and stopped at the Clinique counter in Belk. Here is what I picked up!

The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin
Recently, I finished reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and have been craving a new book. I had a wander around my local library and wasn't seeing anything that sounded good to me. While I was having a little mooch around Target, I stopped at the book section and hoped something would jump out at me. The cover of this one did (how pretty is that!), so I picked it up and read the back. It sounded exactly like something I would love and the book itself feels really good in the hands (yes, I'm strange like that...if it doesn't feel good in my hands I won't want to read it). I won't give anything away, but it is supposed to be about an American heiress who is sent away to England in 1893 to find a title for herself. It just sounded like Downton Abbey (my fav TV show of late) and I absolutely LOVE anything from this time period! If you liked Downton Abbey, you will probably like this book.

Paper Tape - Stripes and Dots
How adorable are these 2 rolls of paper tape?! I found them in the Dollar Spot of my local Target! Each one was just $1, so I had to pick them up! These were completely unnecessary, and I have no idea how I will use them, but...look at them! I love everything about them; the colors, the prints, the packaging, and the PRICE! I will find a way to use these...or I may just set them on my desk and stare at them...Either way, $2 well spent I'd say!

Sticky Note Pad - Don't Forget
I am obsessed with sticky notes, but I prefer lined note paper - because I can't seem to write in a straight line to save my life when there are none. This, also found in the Dollar Spot of Target, was the best of both worlds! Plus it was, again, only $1! BARGAIN!!! They had the cutest patterns, but this one was my favorite. Of course, I didn't need sticky notes...but who does?!

Notecards - Stripe
I've gotten into writing little notes and actually MAILING them to people lately. How novel! I know...but there is something so exciting about getting a handwritten note in your mailbox. And if it comes on a super cute and colorful card - bonus! Plus, these were only $ I had to buy them...right?

Mini Cards + Envelopes
I have absolutely no idea what I will do with these mini cards and envelopes, but they are mini! Mini is always better than full size! I will probably jazz them up and leave little "love" notes for my hubs or my little humans, but for $1, I just couldn't leave them behind...especially when I was busy piling the other goodies from the range into my basket...they looked lonely! Oh stop! You would have bought them too!

Moving on...

Conair Shower Caps with Microban
For the last few year or so I have been using the same flimsy shower cap I swiped from a hotel stay, and the elastic finally gave out. That's a pretty good run for something that is meant for a few uses. I went ahead and grabbed this package while I was out and about. When I got home, I noticed that it had 2 in it - so I should be set for at least the next 2 years! There is one pretty patterned one and one plain clear one. The box says they have Microban in them to help deter any icky mold and mildew that comes from living in and around a warm wet environment.

TRESemme Healthy Volume Shampoo
I have absolutely no volume in my hair. I am always on the hunt for volumizing sprays and shampoos. So when I ran out of shampoo and needed to go buy a new one I went to TRESemme - my favorite drug store brand of the moment. I've not tried this yet, but it smells nice and comes in this massive bottle that will last me probably until the end of the year! I hope I like it...It claims to provide "Optimal Body & Fullness". We shall see!

NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait
There has been loads of hype around this product. It is creamier and more opaque than a lip gloss, but not quite as thick as a liquid lipstick type product. It has the signature NYX scent which smells like vanilla to me and I love it! This one is a super bright pink, but is very wearable and it feels very moisturizing and comfortable on the lips. There isn't a huge color range for these, but I will be picking up another one! They are great for this time of year when you don't want to wear a full on lipstick.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes
Here is another repurchase. I ran out of my Up & Up facial wipes (in the blue and white packet) and these were on sale so I picked them up. I do prefer these to the Up & Up ones because they do not make my eyes burn and they aren't quite as wet as the Up & Up ones. I only use these to get the bulk of makeup off of my face on days when I wear it. Then I always go in with my actual cleanser for a proper cleaning job. So, I don't need a super wet facial wipe. I don't find that these irritate my skin at all, and that's pretty much all I can say about them.

Zoya Professional Lacquer in Odette
I saw this color on a few of my favorite YouTuber's (here it is on Missglamorazzi) in the last few months and feel in love with it! I trolled my local Ulta stores, but never could find it. So, I broke down and placed an order online. I'm not a huge nail polish junkie, but when I see a color that calls my name I have to make it mine. I haven't loved Zoya's formula in the past, but I'm hoping that it was just a matter of the wrong choice of base coat. I will keep you updated!

Clinique All About Eyes
This is a repurchase for me. I had a tiny sample pot of this eye cream from Clinique and used it up. I really liked it and found that it really did what it says on the tin - "Reduces Circles, Puffs". It is a light weight gel formula with no real scent so I find this to be perfect for daytime use. It glides on with a very silky feel and sinks in quickly making it work well under makeup. I will probably stick with this as my daytime eye cream until my skin needs change (read: until I start getting wrinkly and need a high test eye cream).

H&M Yoga Pants in Black
Recently, I got a pair of these crop yoga pants for my Birthday and I loved them so much I went straight out and ordered another pair in black. Nothing much to say about them other than I think they are well made, the material is nice, and they have a little mesh pocket on the inside of the waist that you could put your things in if you were going for a run or something.

H&M Jersey Top in Dark Blue
I thought this tank would be perfect for wearing to my boys soccer games or for running...or just hanging out at the Lake or the Beach. I love the material and cut of this shirt, and want it in every color!

H&M Jersey Top in Gray and Powder Pink
Last, but not least (if you are still with me at this point, you get major friend points), I grabbed the other 2 available colors of this shirt for the same reason I got the yoga pants above. I got this shirt in black for my Birthday and loved it so much that I needed more! You can probably see the details better on these than the original black one I showed in my Birthday Goodies post.

Have you been shopping lately? What did you find that you just couldn't walk away from?

Beauty Stash: The Oddballs

Let's be honest, we all have items in our beauty stash that we either haven't figured out how to wear or never will wear. If you are like me, you are reluctant to let these things go just in case an occasion pops up that you could use them. Like, I don't know...a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show downtown...

I've decided to open up my cabinets and share my oddball beauty stash items with you. Don't judge, you know there is at least one strange item you can't bare to part with in yours!

OFRA Eyeshadow ICE in Goldilocks
I love cream eyeshadow, and I'm not terribly put off by [tasteful] metallics, but this stuff just screams the Yellow Brick Road! I just cannot imagine an outfit or look that this would actually look good with. Not to mention, my eye lids would resemble a gold dollar coin - and we all know how well that went over!

Lash Card Mascara Shields
In theory, these mascara shields sound great. However, when I am getting ready in the morning, the last thing on my mind is, "Let me just grab one of my individually wrapped mascara shields and make sure my mascara doesn't end up all over my face." Granted, my mascara DOES end up on my eye lids most days, I just am not going to add the extra step of awkwardly holding one of these cards while I awkwardly contort my face to get my lashing looking longer and fuller...

Touch in SOL Feel Like Honey Moon Skin Base
Again, a skin base is probably a great step for any routine, however, why do you want gold flecks in it??? Do they break down on the skin giving a glittery look? Do they just sit on the skin making you look like a gold speckled Easter egg? Either way, it looks like disco ball in a tube and I'm just not willing to find out the hard way!

Be a Bombshell Cosmetics Blush in Beach Please
I'm sure Be a Bombshell is a great cosmetic brand. I've heard loads about them in the beauty world, and nothing bad. But this blush is rather intimidating to me. The color is so bright in the pan that I just want see how it could ever blend enough to be natural looking. Sure, if I ever need to look like a porcelain doll, this would be my first choice! However, on the regular, I'm looking for something...well, a little less obvious. I'm sure this would look GREAT on somebody, but that somebody is not me.

J. Cat Beauty Sparkling Cream Palette in Volta
Tell me honestly, what was the first thing you noticed in this picture? If your answer was not the super sparkley, uber glittery cream eyeshadow palette, then you my friend, need to have your eyeballs checked post haste! Outside of the aforementioned showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, I just cannot fathom a time when I would EVER pull this palette out to actually apply to my skin...Yup, just tried again, and there is not one other time I can think of. Yet, I still haven't tossed it!

Now that I've shared my weird little beauty stash secrets, it's your turn. What is lingering in your makeup collection that you look at and think, "WTF (Who the F*&!) would it ever be acceptable for this to be worn?!"

Feature Friday: Haagen-Dazs Tiramisu Gelato

Today on Feature Friday, my favorite treat of the week!

If you like tiramisu, you will LOVE this new Haagen-Dazs Gelato in Tiramisu. My lovely hubby picked this up for me the other night because he knows how much I like tiramisu, and I'm so glad he did! This stuff is amazing. I can't eat much of it in a sitting because it is a bit of a treat in the calorie department, but it is definitely worth the splurge.

Haagen-Dazs describes it as tiramisu gelato with cocoa ladyfinger pieces. I'm not all that keen on the ladyfinger pieces, but the gelato itself tastes exactly like the dessert! I would have been just as happy if they had left out the cookie pieces because the flavor doesn't require them, if you ask me. They do have other flavors if tiramisu isn't your cup of tea. If you give it a try let me know what you thought!

What has been your favorite treat this week?

Birthday Goodies

Last week was my 33rd Birthday. Now before you start hurling old jokes at me, I'd like to share a few of my Birthday goodies with you. Mother's Day is coming up in the near future and I thought, "Hey, I'm a Mom and I loved this stuff. I wonder if other Mom-type people would like it." So, here you go...awesome Birthday gifts for the gal in your life, or equally nice Mother's Day gifts know...your Mom.

H&M Jersey Top in Black
I'm obsessed with H&M clothing. It's cheap and comfy and good quality. I tend to wear a lot of basics, and they do it best! This jersey top has a little pocket on the chest, rolled sleeves, and a rounded bottom hem. It is hard to see the details in this picture, so check out the link! You could dress this shirt up or bum around the house in it (which, let's be honest, is what I do). Anyway, I liked this shirt so much, I bought it in the pink color.

H&M Yoga Pants in Gray
I pretty much live in yoga pants and leggings, but recently I've had to toss a bunch of my old pairs and was in the market for some new ones. Now that the weather is warming up here, I was happy to get this crop pair. They have a little mesh pocket inside the waist for your key and cards or cash if you are running, and the bottom hems have elastic bands that you can cinch up and tie off if you like the gathered leg look. Again, I liked these so much I went out and got them in the other 2 colors.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
This mask has made the rounds in the beauty world for ages, and I've been dying to try it. Finally got my hands on it and can't wait to test it out. Now that the temperatures have been in the high 70s and low 80s, I'm not sure it is going to make the cut for a few months, but as soon as I give it a go I will update you.

ghd Professional Classic 1-inch Styler
My old straightener died...I had it for about 10 years and it was just time for a new one. Enter the ever popular and highly celebrated ghd's. I don't straighten my hair often, but when I do, I want it done right. I am sure I we will be friends for years to come.

Bose Mobile In-Ear Headset
I have rediculously sensitive ears. I love the sound quality of over ear headphones, but they hurt my ears after about 2 minutes. I also run and travel quite a bit - so having mobile in-ear headphones is very useful for me. The ones that come with iPhone's are OK, but the sound quality could be better and they definitely don't do anything in the comfort department. Bose makes great products when it comes to sound, and I had heard tons of reviews saying that these are the most comfortable ear buds on the market. After wearing them for a week, I do agree they are comfortable and they appear to be well made, but time will tell if they are the best on the market. I use my ear buds daily for hours at a time, so they will certainly be put to the test!

I'm excited to have these things added to my collection, and I hope you enjoyed a quick little review of them!
